RODEOSheridan And Buffalo Area Cowboys And Cowgirls Qualify For 2024 WY High School (NFR) National Finals Rodeo

The State Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs marked the end of the Wyoming High School Rodeo season. The top four finishers in each fall and spring rodeo standings after this past weekend qualify for the High School National Finals Rodeo, which will also take place in Rock Springs next month. Cowboys and cowgirls earn points based on where they finish at each rodeo. The HSNFR will host nine cowboys and cowgirls from North-Central Wyoming. Abagail Olson of Sheridan is the state champ in Barrel Dashing. She also tied for second in the pole bending event. In steer wrestling, Buffalo’s Colson Myers is the state champion. The team roping state champions are Cael Espenscheid of Big Piney and Cam Johnson of Buffalo. Bleu Butler and Buffalo’s Kamry Davis qualified for the breakaway roping and barrel racing, respectively. In the bull riding, Sheridan’s Kolby Smith placed third. Karly Peterson of Bison will be in Rock Springs one month from now in the Young ladies cutting. Clearmont’s Wyatt Holland will compete in the trap shooting and light rifle events. In the end, Parkman’s Cooper Justis won the Reined Cow Horse competition.
